Success Stories
The strength of the Phinney Ridge Kumon Center lies with our dedicated parents and the profession staff of reading and math assistants who have been with Marty for years. The reading assistants are all professional reading and writing tutors that have worked in the Seattle School District, and privately. The math assistants are college students with strong math backgrounds, gaining experience to become certified teachers at graduation. You are welcome to have access to a list of all the tutors at the Phinney Ridge center, when you are at a parent orientation. More About Kumon The center works with students aged 3 through 17. Curriculum ranges from basic addition up through advanced algebra in the math program, and covers the alphabet up to formal essay composition suitable for high school english. Kumon has over 20 defined skill levels in both Math and Reading from Preschool to College. Each child has an INDIVIDUAL lesson plan developed by the director. Our goal is to help your child develop a strong foundation in Math and Reading so they can work at their true potential in advanced studies. The Kumon Method involves daily homework for about 15 minutes that is quick, easy, and effective in promoting learning. Through repetition and continuous increases in complexity of subject material, Kumon students constantly improve their skills. Students are rewarded for their efforts at the center once daily goals are met, and parents are rewarded with a more confident child. Enrollment Parents must attend an orientation where curriculum is explained. Parent Orientation is done one on one with Marty Paulson, Director, outside of normal instruction hours. Students are tested at no charge to determine where they will start with their individual lesson plan in the program. Orientation times are available Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Marty Paulson, the Director of the Phinney Ridge Center, welcomes your inquiries. You may call the center at 206-365-1600, or e-mail Marty at martypaulson@comcast.net. Center Hours are Mondays and Thursdays, from 2:30 to 6:30 P.M. and Tuesdays, from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M. Thanks for looking into the Kumon program! |
